Wildflower Mix
Great Gift Item!
Packed in attractive cloth bags...
|
Bloomers: Turf-Seed's classic
mixture of up to 30 species of colorful annual and perennial
flowers. The mixture includes Larkspur, California Poppies,
Mountain Phlox, Godetia and Plains Coreopsis. Since Bloomers grow
taller than Baby Bloomers, the two mixtures work well when planted
together.
Seeding Rate:
For most applications, Bloomers should be seeded at 5 to 10 pounds
per acre or 4 to 8 oz. per 1000 sq. ft.

Best Times to Plant:
Bloomers need to be kept irrigated until established (4 to 6
weeks), so they are best planted in the Spring. Bloomers may be
planted in summer if watered until established. In cool season
areas, Bloomers may be planted in the fall, if seeds are planted
late enough to remain dormant until spring. In areas with moderate
winters, Bloomers can be seeded in the Fall, resulting in an early
spring blooming period. An adjacent planting can be made that same
spring to extend flowering into Summer and Fall.
Preparation:
Prepare seedbed by killing all weeds and grasses with an herbicide
like ROUNDUP and mow off debris. Remove debris. Seeds should be
raked after broadcasting and covered lightly with topsoil. Seeds
should be planted at a depth of 1/8" to 1/4". Mulching is not
required when seeds are covered with soil. When hydro-mulched, no
additional seed covering is necessary.
Maintenance:
The other beauty of Bloomers Wildflowers is that they require
minimal maintenance once established, making Bloomers the logical
choice for those hard-to-get-at areas that need an attractive
ground cover. Extend the growing season by mowing back after the
flowers are through the peak of blooming, they can be mowed at 6",
watered and fertilized with 1 lb. per 1000 sq. ft. of 16-16-16.
This will create a second bloom extending color in the landscape
until killing frost occurs.
